In the middle of an affordability crisis, City Hall keeps making everything more expensive.
Mayor Olivia Chow was elected in 2023. Since then, property taxes are up 28%! That means for a home worth $850,000, property taxes have gone up by over $1,100 a year. That’s almost a $100 a month from your pocket to City Hall.
And it’s not just what homeowners pay when City Hall jacks up taxes, it makes everything more expensive – for homeowners, renters and everyone who lives in Toronto.
We are all paying more and getting less and less. Toronto is more dangerous, dirty and expensive. Give us all a break. Taxes should go up less than inflation.
