FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Public transit must be safe, clean, and reliable. Increasing reports of open drug use on the TTC are unacceptable and deter ridership, particularly among families and vulnerable populations.
ABC Toronto is demanding a Zero Tolerance Policy for Drug Use on the TTC.
This includes:
- Increased enforcement presence across stations and vehicles
- Immediate removal of individuals using drugs on transit property
- Integration with mental health and addiction support services
- Clear and visible standards for safety and conduct
Compassion and enforcement are not mutually exclusive, but inaction is not an option.
Toronto’s transit system must be safe for everyone, no exceptions.
