Every year, City Hall has relied on a growing list of taxes, fees and charges. Torontonians may hear one number for the property-tax increase, while paying more through user fees, development charges and the land transfer tax.
A Better City Toronto is calling on City Hall to adopt a firm affordability commitment: the total municipal tax burden on Toronto residents and businesses should never increase faster than inflation. As well, they deserve a clear and honest accounting of how much City Hall is taking from them each year.
