TORONTO, September 10, 2026 – A Better City (ABC) Toronto today is asking every candidate for Mayor and City Council in the Oct 26 election to commit to prioritize basic issues important to Torontonians.
The pledge is simple. Candidates who sign commit that, if elected, they will put five things first: economic development, mobility, safety, affordability and accountability. Nothing else. No policy fine print and no partisan test.
ABC Toronto will publish the names of candidates who sign at https://abctoronto.org/, updated until election day.
“Toronto is at a fork in the road,” said Kelly Aizicowitz of A Better City Toronto. “Under the status quo the city has grown more congested, less safe and less affordable. Voters are tired of hearing about big problems without big ideas to fix them. This pledge asks a simple question of everyone on the ballot: will you do the hard work to get the city back on track, or not?”
ABC Toronto is distributing the pledge directly to all registered candidates this week.
“This isn’t about picking winners,” Aizicowitz said. “It’s about accountability. Every candidate says they want a better city. We’re asking them to put it in writing so residents can hold them to it after October 26.”
